- Unlocking migrants’ capabilities
- Saving costs in the provision of public services
- Promoting social cohesion.
The idea is to:
- Raise aware of the programme (provided at no cost to participants, apart from the time commitment that they have to make) among the various migrant communities
- Invite them to an induction in which the process is described and the individuals get to know which other
- Provide a series of workshops over a six-week period to complement the private study done by individuals on English grammar and vocabulary at an appropriate level
- Encourage them to participate (without a teacher being present) at a meetup such as those provided at Common Ground by one of the churches in South Belfast and at a cafe near the Holywood Arches
- Provide some sort of end of programme event, with a letter of course completion and opportunities to discuss further progression that may be of interest to the various individuals.
